The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has an always-on display, just like the majority of top smartwatches. These three methods will enable the feature.

The Galaxy Watch 5 boasts an always-on display, but Samsung keeps the feature deactivated by default. These days, most premium smartwatches include an always-on display, but the capability isn't frequently available on lesser smartwatches, such as the Apple Watch SE. But, Samsung customers may rest easy knowing that the feature is available on all models of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro.

On the Galaxy Watch 5, there are three ways to turn on the always-on display. The watch's Display settings menu is where you activate the feature using the first way. Swipe up from the bottom of the Galaxy Watch 5's screen to see the app tray. Then launch the "Settings" app, and select "Display." On the next screen, turn on the toggle for "Always On Display" to activate the function. Return to the home screen and wait for the screen to go to sleep and switch to always-on mode.

Other Methods For Enabling Always-On Display

As an alternative, customers can enable the always-on option in the Galaxy Watch's fast settings menu. Swipe up from the top of the home screen to reveal the quick settings panel, then tap the always-on button (which looks like a watch). The Galaxy Wearable app is the third way to turn on the feature. Open the app on the companion smartphone, then choose "Watch Settings." Then, select "Display" and click or press the switch next to "Always On Display."

The implementation of the always-on display on the Galaxy Watch 5 is comparable to that of the 2014 iPhone Pro. The Watch 5 dims the current watch face so that all that can be seen is the time rather than displaying a digital clock on the screen. The use of the feature does have a drawback, though. According to Samsung, an always-on display drastically shortens the battery life of the watch. With the always-on display turned on and with moderate use, the Galaxy Watch 5 can last all day.

Users can view the time and other important information on the screen with the always-on display, which is a great feature that allows users to do so without having to interact with the watch. The always-on feature is not supported by all watch faces, though. If the Galaxy Watch 5's feature isn't functioning, try a new watch face. If that fails, check that Do Not Disturb or Since the watch doesn't transition to an always-on display in these modes, Theater Mode isn't activated.
