The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 includes twin drivers and promises an immersive listening experience. But do they provide enough advantages over rivals at $179?
For a company that once made affordable flagship phones, OnePlus has gone above and beyond with its most recent flagship earbuds. The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 stand out from other true wireless stereo earbuds in numerous ways. They aren't exactly inexpensive at $179, but they stand out because to a number of benefits that must be experienced before they are dismissed in favor of more well-known brands like Apple, Sony, and Bose.
On the surface, little has changed. Yet, OnePlus has made advancements in crucial areas. The new features of Android 13 include head tracking, rapid connection, improved noise cancellation, and some significant customizing tools. Here is a detailed breakdown of what the best OnePlus earbuds have to offer.

It's not a terrible thing that the design is reminiscent of OnePlus' first Pro earbuds. Whilst the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 earbuds are clearly inspired by the AirPods Pro, they nonetheless have a nice appearance. They have a distinctive aesthetic character due to the combination of a matte black surface with a silvery luster on the stem. They are comfortable, which is more crucial. When using the earbuds for a morning run and while skipping rope, they stayed firmly in place.OnePlus Buds Pro 2R: ₹9,999.#OnePlus #OnePlusBudsPro2R pic.twitter.com/gYNLGPKX0p

The improper ear tips are probably to blame for the slight sound leaking and looser-than-expected fit for noise cancellation. The earbuds, however, were a perfect fit for a couple friends who tried them out. To find the optimal ear canal seal, some trial-and-error may be needed with the various ear tip sizes available. With its Earbuds Test, OnePlus assists consumers in choosing the ideal ear tip size for the best possible noise isolation. Although the case is thin, the subtle matte texture gives it a more expensive appearance.
Many Clever Techniques
The features section has a lot to unpack. Users will first value Google's Quick Pair system. When you open the case near the phone again after pairing the earbuds for the first time, the Android device will immediately display a pairing request on the screen. It's not necessary to tinker with Bluetooth settings to get your earbuds to pair. It's fantastic to see Android users finally experiencing this capability, which Apple has been providing with the AirPods for some time. It functions flawlessly with the OnePlus Buds Pro 2. Dual-device connection is an additional cool feature. To manage calls and switch between two devices, the earbuds control the output of audio, among other things.Should OnePlus Buds Pro 2 be your next pick? There is no gesture for volume control, but the pinch and squeeze control reliably work for playback controls and moving between listening modes. Users will now require their phones in order to adjust the volume. Touch controls on the stem are another annoyance because they might be hit-or-miss when you're wearing a cap that covers your ears. Yet, touch gestures on the pea-shaped Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro function admirably in this situation. By double-tapping the stem, the earphones may also function as a remote shutter for the camera of a partnered OnePlus phone.
If you have a OnePlus phone, you can access all the default controls and custom tuning settings directly from the Settings app. You must download the Hello Melody app for phones built by other manufacturers, including Apple. There are some compromises made here, though. Only the recently released OnePlus phone (i.e., the OnePlus 11) and not any other brand phone with the Hello Melody app loaded will support the Hi-Res audio mode, Spatial Audio, Locate My Earbuds, and camera shutter. Even if ecosystem locking is a concern, everyone uses it.
Zen Mode Air is another feature that delivers calming white noise directly to your ears. By default, there are five songs, and they are helpful for getting to sleep. It's interesting to note that the Zen Mode songs are not stored on your linked phone but rather on the headphones.
Cover-Up for Lively Audio & Surround Sound
The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 are bass-forward earphones in terms of music quality. When listening to a song with the default settings, the emphasis on low frequencies is audible. The low-frequency rumble will appeal to fans of beats with more bass. However, the low-frequency thud doesn't overpower the earphones, allowing listeners to still hear the track's instrumental sounds. Due to the dual-driver architecture, the latter is made possible.
All of these significant qualities are absent from many TWS earphones. There are no mic clarity problems, and dual-device connectivity is a remarkably underappreciated convenience. Although they are not inexpensive, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 are a reliable pair of earbuds that provide more than more affordable competitors. The only option to outperform the OnePlus offering is to spend more money on more expensive models like the Sony WF-1000XM4, AirPods Pro 2, Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II, and Sony QuietComfort Earbuds II, which provide stronger noise cancellation and more sophisticated audio. But, investing in the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 is undoubtedly worthwhile if you already own a OnePlus smartphone.
