Here's Why the OnePlus 11 Hardly Survives the Durability Test

A YouTube channel named JerryRigEverything conducted a durability test on the budget flagship OnePlus 11. Here's how it just barely escaped.

The OnePlus 11 barely managed to survive the most recent durability test from the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel. With a new camera bulge and a stainless steel metal curve surrounding it, the most recent OnePlus 11 seems to be a step up from earlier models. The most current OnePlus 11 was anticipated to follow suit after the OnePlus 10T and OnePlus 10 Pro broke in half during a bend test last year.

But the new flagship just escaped splitting in two. With Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and Gorilla Glass 5 on the back, the OnePlus 11 boasts an aluminum unibody frame. During bend tests, it developed noticeable cracks all over the back glass panel starting at the bottom corner of the camera bump, but it didn't break when Zack Nelson of the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel applied pressure. The OnePlus phones snapped directly below the camera bump in tests on phones from earlier years. The OnePlus 11 maintained full functionality despite the fractured back glass and minimal body damage because it has increased structural rigidity as compared to earlier models.

The OnePlus 11 Display Is Uneven.

The OnePlus 11's 6.7-inch 1440p AMOLED screen is shielded by Gorilla Glass Victus and has a plastic screen protector pre-installed. When tested using the Mohs hardness scale, the screen had level 6 scratches and level 7 deeper grooves. For everyday use, the display screen is largely scratch-resistant, and the same glass also shields the 16MP hole-punch selfie camera on the left. The entire rear of the phone, including the camera module, is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. There was no pixel damage during the fire test, which involved holding a flame against the screen for more than 50 seconds.

Nevertheless, after a series of level 7 deeper grooves were scratched into the surface of the display screen, the fingerprint reader ceased to function altogether. Scratches typically have no impact on scanner performance, but the deeper grooves prevented the scanner from reading fingerprints. Just an IP64 rating for water resistance applies to the OnePlus 11, meaning that the device may endure brief water sprinkling. The phone, however, features a metal unibody design, with metal power and alert slider buttons. Users of the OnePlus 11 no longer receive a free case inside the package, and the sole accessory included is an 80W fast charger.

The OnePlus 11 astonishingly survived the torture testing, despite substantial damage to its outside. This is a type of atonement for prior years' poor durability test performance glass body and back. Because of its amazing specifications, practical features, starting price of $699, and four years of Android upgrades, the OnePlus 11 is recognized as one of the most inexpensive flagship handsets available. Yet given that the phone barely passed the durability tests, purchasing a case or cover to safeguard the OnePlus 11 is a smart move.
